This article is going to give you five beautiful bun styles and how to recreate them! Bunning is a hair style that can be worn for every occasion.

The Military Bun

The military bun is simple, chic and it can be both formal and casual! This look takes all of 5 minutes and is very versatile. All you need to complete this look is a sock bun, two scrunchies, a boar bristle brush and some hair gel.

Here's how to get it:

  1. Begin by brushing the hair in a downward motion to the back. You want to get your bun as low as possible.
  2. Once you have brushed your hair into the desired position, you may begin to add the hair gel to the perimeter. Do not add more than two scoops! You don't want a cakey ponytail.
  3. Secure the ponytail with a scrunchy. Be sure to wrap it at least twice so that it will be tight and sleek. Brush away any stray hairs if necessary.
  4. Take your sock bun and attach it to the base of your ponytail. It should touch the back of your head.
  5. To finish off the look, wrap the ponytail around the sock bun until there are no loose hairs. You will secure this with the second elastic. After this, you are finished! If desired, you may add bobby pins for extra security.

The Nest Bun

The nest bun is a very trendy, semi-messy bun. This has been spotted across runways and designer ads galore. Despite the popularity, it is far from complicated to achieve. The only things you need for this style are a boar bristle brush, a scrunchy, some holding hair spray and bobby pins!

Here's how to get it:

  1. Brush your hair into a high ponytail. It does not have to be very tight because you want to have a few fly-aways. Secure this with a scrunchy.
  2. Begin taking big pieces of the ponytail and pinning them in a swirling direction. You want them to go around the base of the ponytail. Do not make these neat, you want to encourage a little frizziness.
  3. Once you have completed that, take your holding hair spray and spray your entire head.
  4. Do not use gel because it will give a weight to the hair and will cause it to be stiff. The hair spray gives flexibility while keeping your style in tact. Now, you're done!

The Twisted Chignon

The chignon is an elegant style of bun that works both for formal occasions such as weddings and for casual occasions like a work day. All you need for this hair style is a boar bristle brush, a scrunchy, lots of bobby pins and a holding spray. Here's how to get that look.

  3. Moving back to the front, begin making several twists going to the back and pin them to the chignon. You can cross them over each other if you want to add detail or just go straight back, for a simpler approach.
  4. Now that you have completed the twisted chignon, spray your entire head with the holding spray to ensure security and longevity. That's it!
